Thetford’s first rickshaw, kindly sponsored by Breckland Council, is called BOUDICA! The Thetford rickshaw was launched in July 2024 and since then has been roaming around Thetford providing rides for people with limited mobility.
Boudica was purchased by Breckland Council for Thetford in 2024 as part of a project called TRiP, and led by enABLE, Keystone Trust, Norfolk Community Council, and Warren Services. Inspired by the Bury Rickshaw project, Thetford now has its first rickshaw.
Boudica is a pedal powered tricycle with a rechargeable battery to help with the steeper bits. She holds two people comfortably and has seat belts and a covered hood for protection from the sun (and rain) The Rickshaw is aimed at helping people with mobility issues, the elderly, and those with difficulty getting out.
enABLE Thetford is managing the day to day running of Boudica, contact enABLE by using the form at the bottom of the page. The rickshaw will be going to any parts of the town that are safely navigable and can be covered by our volunteer riders.
TRiP is looking for volunteer companions and cyclist. can you spare a couple of hours a week? We need companions and physically fit rickshaw riders . All volunteers are covered by insurance . For more information email thetfordrickshaw@keystonetrust.org.uk
